Complete layout of a 22 m² kitchen in Geneva

In this house located in Geneva, this complete kitchen renovation project of 22 m² aimed to transform an existing space into an open, friendly, and decidedly high-end kitchen.

The clients wanted a central living area capable of accommodating both everyday moments and shared experiences. The goal was to design a functional kitchen, perfectly structured, while working with materials and volumes to create a warm and contemporary atmosphere.

Thanks to a custom design and a selection of elegant finishes, this 22 m² kitchen now offers a successful balance between aesthetics, comfort, and performance.

Step 1: Project Study and Needs Definition

The first phase of the project involved a detailed analysis of the clients' expectations as well as the constraints of the room. It was about intelligently structuring the available 22 m² while maintaining a sense of space and fluidity.

Very quickly, the choice of a central island became evident. This element not only organizes the functions of the kitchen but also creates a true living space. The U-shaped layout around this island maximized the work surfaces while facilitating daily movement.

Step 2: Removal of the Old Kitchen and Site Preparation

Before any installation, the teams proceeded with the complete removal of the old kitchen. This step allowed for a fresh start and prepared the supports for the new arrangements.

The walls were restored, the old equipment removed, and the volumes completely cleared to facilitate the implementation of the new project. This phase, often invisible, is essential to ensure the quality and durability of the final installation.

Step 3: Reorganization of Networks and Optimization of Layout

To adapt the kitchen to its new configuration, the networks were completely rethought. The electrical connections and water points were repositioned to match the chosen layout.

This intervention allowed:

  • to supply the central island with electricity,
  • to reposition the water points and appliances,
  • to integrate functional and decorative lighting.

The circulation around the island was carefully studied to ensure optimal comfort, especially during shared use.

Step 4: Installation of Furniture and Structuring of the Space

The installation of the furniture marks a key stage in the transformation of the room. The dark facades structure the space and give it a strong identity while providing contemporary elegance.

This choice is subtly balanced by a light countertop, which captures natural light and visually enlarges the room. The central island, imposing yet perfectly proportioned, becomes the heart of the kitchen. It offers a generous preparation surface, additional storage, and a space conducive to interaction.

Step 5: Material Work and Highlighting the Backsplash

The character of this kitchen largely relies on the choice of materials. The backsplash, made of tiles with graphic patterns, brings rhythm and a true visual signature.

It harmoniously pairs with the natural wood shelves, which introduce a warm and authentic touch. The exposed beams reinforce this friendly atmosphere, creating a link between modernity and tradition. The whole is complemented by metallic finishes that emphasize the high-end positioning of the project.

Step 6: Integration of Appliances

The integration of appliances was designed to combine performance and discretion. Each appliance finds its place in the layout without disrupting the visual harmony of the kitchen.

Each piece of equipment was positioned to facilitate movement and optimize the ergonomics of the space.

Step 7: Finishing Touches and Lighting

The final step of the project involved finalizing the details and working on the lighting ambiance. Several lighting sources were combined to meet different uses.

The pendants above the island provide a strong decorative dimension, while the recessed spots ensure homogeneous general lighting. The under-cabinet lighting enhances comfort in the preparation areas.

This lighting work allows for the materials to shine and creates a warm atmosphere at any time of the day.

A 22 m² Kitchen Transformed into a True Living Space

Thanks to this complete renovation, this 22 m² kitchen in Geneva has become a central room in the house. It now combines aesthetics, functionality, and friendliness, perfectly meeting the occupants' expectations.

Every detail has been designed to optimize the space and enhance the volumes while offering a high-end finish. This project fully illustrates the importance of custom design in transforming a kitchen into a true living space.
