A modern and welcoming outdoor project
In Zurich, a young couple, owners of a contemporary 200 m² house, wanted to enhance their outdoor space and create a true extension of their living area. Their idea was simple yet ambitious: to transform a previously underutilized area into a modern, elegant, and inviting terrace designed for family meals, relaxation, and evenings with friends. They also wished to maintain the architectural coherence of their home, which has a distinctly contemporary style. A design thought out in every detail
From the very first meetings, our teams took the time to listen carefully to their expectations. The couple desired a layout that was both functional, aesthetic, and sustainable. It was not just about installing a terrace, but about designing an outdoor space that extends the sober and refined architecture of the house. We envisioned a comprehensive project where each element has its place: a modern and easy-to-maintain surface, smooth access from the living room, increased brightness, and highlighting of the facade through a judicious choice of materials and finishes.

Step 1: Site preparation and installation of networks
The project began with meticulous preparation. Our teams first cleaned the area and installed the necessary networks to make the space as comfortable as it is practical for daily use. A water point was installed to simplify watering and maintenance, while outdoor lighting and an electrical outlet were integrated to allow the couple to enjoy the terrace both during the day and in the evening.
Step 2: Construction of the reinforced concrete structure
The base of the terrace was designed in reinforced concrete, a technical choice ensuring strength and longevity. This solid structure guarantees the stability of the whole and provides a durable foundation for the finishes.
Step 3: Installation of dark gray ceramic tiles and gravel borders
The floor was dressed with large dark gray ceramic slabs. This modern, durable, and easy-to-maintain material perfectly complements the contemporary architecture of the house and enhances the overall elegance of the project. These choices add a vegetal and aesthetic dimension to the final layout.
Step 4: Installation of an adjustable sunshade
To provide the terrace with all the necessary comfort, we installed an adjustable sunshade. With its modular slats, it allows control of natural light and creates shaded areas as needed. This equipment ensures optimal protection against the sun's rays in summer while allowing brightness in winter. It adds a design and contemporary touch to the whole, reinforcing the coherence between the terrace and the house.
